Your evening begins aboard Telluride's free gondola, gliding silently above the valley toward San Sophia Station. As the San Juan Mountains unfold around you, the journey becomes part of the experience — by the time the doors open, you've already had one of Colorado's most unforgettable arrivals.
Board the free gondola from Telluride or Mountain Village — no ticket required.
Step off at 10,551 feet, where panoramic alpine views welcome you before dinner even begins.
Allred's is located inside San Sophia Station, just a short walk from the gondola platform.
Board at either the Telluride or Mountain Village station — no ticket, no reservation, just walk on. From Telluride, the cabin climbs 1,750 feet over the course of a few minutes, passing over aspen groves and the box canyon's waterfalls before opening onto a 360° view of the San Juan Mountains. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the La Sal Range in Utah.
The gondola runs on wind and solar power — it's the first free public transit system of its kind in the country, and quietly one of the most scenic rides in Colorado. Cabins are wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly; attendants are on hand to help with strollers or wheelchairs at boarding.
Exit at San Sophia Station, the mid-mountain stop at 10,551 feet — you'll see signage for Allred's right at the platform. It's a short, well-marked walk from the gondola to the front door, no additional transit needed.
The gondola operates seasonally (closed for brief maintenance windows in spring and fall) with extended hours to 2 AM on peak-season Friday and Saturday nights — so there's no need to rush dinner to catch a ride back down.
